August 31st 2021 Update
Covid Update
Dear Member/Attender of Grace Baptist Church:
We believe it is important to share with you what is happening within the church. The person in our RU Ministry that tested positive is doing much better. However, CLA (the local Christian school many of our members work at or send children) has been changed to distance learning. There have been various people exposed and positive test results in that organization. One of the people affected is Mrs. Gray. A junior high faculty member tested positive. As Jonathan is in junior high everyone in our family was required to test in order to return to school or work. Mrs. Gray took a total of 3 over the counter tests on Monday evening. The first test indicated she was positive. The next test indicated negative. And the final test was positive. Pastor Don and Mrs. Gray both went to urgent care for testing on 8/31. They were able to do a rapid test that indicated they are both negative. However, the staff requested that they show caution and give things as much time as possible. In addition, Jonathan Gray has now developed a fever on 8/31 and he will be tested tomorrow 9/1.
Due to these circumstances the following changes have been made:
· Ladies of Grace is Cancelled for 9/4
· Outreach Packing Event is rescheduled from 9/4 to a TBD
· All Youth Events are Cancelled until further notice
· RU has cancelled live meetings other meetings may be held via Zoom
· All Services will be virtual until 9/19.
o All Sunday School is cancelled until 9/19
o Am services will be streamed and available virtually
o Pm services will be streamed and available virtually
o Wed pm services will be streamed and available virtually
· Other Ministries or Committees may still meet at the leadership and participants discretion
If you do not feel well, please do NOT attend for any reason, please get tested, and quarantine until those test results come back. Due to rising numbers, we understand that some of you will be hesitant to return to in-person services. We want to encourage you to return to watching services online if this is your situation. We fully support each person’s decision for his/her safety as the numbers surge on the island. We ask that your decision be based on faith not fear.
We are very grateful and appreciative of the church family’s overwhelming support for these decisions. We want to remind each member that God is in control. We will trust in Him and do all we can to be good servants of the Lord and examples of Godliness in the community.
Please pray for your church, leadership, and the local school. Please pray for those who are directly affected in your church. They need your prayers, encouragement, and support in the difficult days ahead for them.
In Christ,
Pastor and Deacons of Grace Baptist Church
